How trust works here

Most directories show pins. Verified Spaces shows provenance. A pin means nothing without a name, a method, and a date behind it.

Every venue, review, and owner reply carries one of three tiers. Stale listings age down visually. Safety flags go to a triage queue, not a backlog.

Green · Verified
Owner-claimed through a scripted voice call or an email domain match, or confirmed by a named moderator.
Yellow · Community-reported
User or AI report waiting on moderator review. Useful signal, not confirmed.
Red · Flagged
Active safety report or stale data. Treat with caution; our median triage time is published on Trust & Safety.

Why Verified Spaces exists

Restroom access is a civil rights issue. We treat it like one.

August 1966

Compton's Cafeteria, 101 Taylor Street, San Francisco

A group of trans women, drag queens, and sex workers fought back when police tried to arrest a customer during a routine raid. Three years before Stonewall. Commemorated annually during Trans History Month.

June 1969

Stonewall Inn, 53 Christopher Street, New York

Six nights of uprising after a police raid. Bathrooms and bars were both flashpoints for who was allowed to exist in public. The modern queer rights movement is commonly traced to these nights.

March 2016 — present

United States, 29+ states

Since HB2 in North Carolina, state legislatures have introduced hundreds of bills restricting restroom access, sports participation, and healthcare for trans people. These are the current stakes of a restroom directory.

Finding a safe restroom, or a venue that won't turn you away, shouldn't depend on rumor. Our verification model (who, how, when) is a direct response to decades of performative allyship and live political risk. Read more on our mission.

What's different

Freshness
Every venue shows when it was last verified. Listings older than six months age down visually.
Triage
Red-tier safety flags go to a triage queue, not a backlog. Median resolution is public.
Provenance
Imported, user-reported, owner-claimed, AI-verified. We never pretend one source is another.
No star rating
Separate safety, inclusivity, and cleanliness scores. Weight what matters to you.
Privacy
No third-party ad trackers. Reports tied to accounts are never leaked to venues.
Color isn't identity
The tier color marks state, never people. Every tier pairs with an icon and a word.
