Past the front desk and gift shop in the lobby.
No one checks to see if you're a customer/patron, but the front desk is in view of the bathroom, so being discreet would be wise. Lots of folks hang out in the lobby to wait for families and friends to arrive or leave the museum itself, so it's easy to blend in. There's also a cafe in the lobby that's open to the public.
