How the Austin Commons works

This room is for queer and trans people in and around Austin. A few things keep it worth being in. They're the same things you agreed to when you joined, pinned here so they're easy to find.

Write as yourself. No AI-generated posts or comments. This is a human place, and that's the whole point.

Don't try to figure out who someone is offline, and don't take what you learn here to out them or track them down. Don't screenshot posts and pass them around off the Commons to mock or target people.

Don't organise pile-ons, mass-reports, or harassment. If something's wrong, report it once and let the moderators handle it.

Treat trans and gender-expansive people, and everyone here, with respect. Picking fights about whether people are who they say they are isn't a debate we're going to host.

When a post gets removed, you'll see why. Moderation here is done by people, and you can appeal a call you think is wrong. We don't promise we're watching every second, and we won't pretend an algorithm catches everything. What we do promise is that a human looks, and that we show our work.
